Below you will find our course outline and plan for the year.

Your homework for Wednesday, September 13th is to finish the  “Understanding Centuries” worksheet which we went over in class. Here is the worksheet, for you record.

Below I have posted a file with individual and group project options for 2017-2018. I will speak more about these in class. This is not an exhaustive list, and you can come up with your own project ideas and discuss them with me.



To introduce our Government and Law unit, we first explored issues round our own rights and democratic power. Please see the documents below.



We have also begun to think about the knowledge we acquire and the skills we practice in Social Studies. We will be assessing our own performance and competence throughout the year using documents like the one below.



Hello Grade 11s. This is a reminder that the Social Action Matching Quiz ( /10) and the Oka Crisis Essay ( /35) will happen on Tuesday, Sept 26th.


The Topic for the OPEN BOOK Essay will be:

On Monday, November 20th, we will tackle the contentious issues of racism, discrimination and xenophobia in Canadian history. We will explore what these terms mean, learn about instances of discrimination and xenophobia in Victorian Canada, and discuss more recent examples of racism, discrimination and xenophobia. The purpose will be to evaluate their destructive impact on our lives, as well as evaluate whether or not racism and racial discrimination have become more or less acceptable in Canadian society over time.
